U.S. to Canada Shipping Documents:

Quick Clear Form - This form allows you to reduce the amount of paperwork involved in cross-border shipping since it replaces the need to complete the next three documents: the Bill of Lading, Canadian Customs Invoice (CCI), and Certificate of Origin. Quick Clear Form instructions.

Bill Of Lading - Document to show description of goods with the shipper, consignee and name of Custom Broker if possible.

Canadian Customs Invoice (CCI) - This document must match the bill of lading in respect to the number of pieces. The CCI must accompany the shipment from point of pick up to the point of customs clearance.

Certificate of Origin - This document must also travel with the shipment and determines and identifies the producer of the goods and country of origin. The Certificate of Origin is used by the broker to determine the correct rate of duty under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Canada to U.S. Shipping Documents:

Shippers are required to prepare the following three forms: a Bill of Lading, a Commercial Invoice, and a Certificate of Origin.

Bill Of Lading - Document to show description of goods with the shipper, consignee and name of Custom Broker if possible.

Commercial Invoice - Two copies of the Commercial Invoice are needed. One must accompany the freight from the point of pickup to the point of customs clearance; the other should be attached to the Bill of Lading. This document is an invoice, usually supplied by the vendor, with a complete description of the goods being shipped, along with the proper valuations and currency information.

Certificate of Origin - This document must also travel with the shipment and determines and identifies the producer of the goods and country of origin. The Certificate of Origin is used by the broker to determine the correct rate of duty under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
